I launched Techcofounder.com a month ago today with modest hopes to make it easier to find passionate individuals to work with on startup ideas. Today we have 150 coder profiles listed, which may not seem like much, but this is a big win. Of the 150 profiles, 121 of you have been contacted at least once, and over 500 total messages have been sent.
I've also had the pleasure to exchange emails with a number of you. You've offered great suggestions on usability and feature enhancements, which I promise I will get to soon. Most of you are also working on interesting new ideas and all of you have unique experiences and backgrounds that we can all benefit from as a community. Since I know many of you also reside in the Bay Area, I thought it may be appropriate to suggest a meetup of sorts, and if it makes sense, to make it a regular get-together.
Here are some initial ideas I had for a potential event. Please leave a comment if you're interested in attending, and if you have ideas for an agenda.
Option 1: Happy Hour. Networking + drinks
Option 2: Speaker or Panel. Bring in CTO/VP Eng/Founder from well-known startup. Speaker shares experience + networking + food
Option 3: Group Brainstorming Session. Break all attendees into groups of 3 or 4. Each group assigned a market and a problem. 1 hour to define a new product and come up with strategy to market and launch. Each group presents and discussion ensues.
Option 4: Hack Day. Break coders into groups and build a new product from scratch. (requires half a day, on weekend)
Any other suggestions?
